Sustainability in E-Commerce: Insights from eCom Collab Club London

Both tech firms and businesses, explored various ways to adjust our practices and move towards sustainability. The discussions ranged from sourcing and developing sustainable products to optimising our tech architecture.


One eye-opening fact I learned was that a single email generates 3 grams of carbon - a stark reminder of the hidden environmental costs in our digital world.

Each brought unique perspectives on implementing sustainability in their respective areas of e-commerce.


On my walk back to the station, I noticed something that reinforced the day's lessons.


Galliards, a building contractor, had set up a "Wall of Kindness" where people could donate unwanted items. This simple yet effective initiative demonstrated that regardless of our business type, we can all make small adjustments towards sustainability.

The key takeaway? No matter what industry we're in, we should be thinking about the small adjustments we can make to move closer to sustainability. Whether it's reducing unnecessary code in our tech projects or encouraging reuse in our communities, every action counts.
